AF Mode
To continuously autofocus on a moving subject
AF Mode lets you choose the appropriate autofocus mode or manual focus according to the subject.
For example, you can choose from single AF [S-AF] to focus on the subject just once, continuous AF [C-AF] to focus continuously on the subject, and tracking AF [C-AF+TR] to have the focus detect and track the subject.
To track focus and shoot moving subjects, use continuous AF [C-AF]. The camera focuses continuously while you press the shutter button halfway. In continuous AF [C-AF] mode, when the burst shooting mode is set to Sequential Low, Anti-shock Sequential Low, Silent Sequential Low, or Pro Capture Low, the focus operation continues even while the shutter button is pressed all the way and sequential shooting is in progress. When the burst shooting mode is set to Sequential High, Silent Sequential High, or Pro Capture High, the focus is locked at the position when shooting the first picture.
When assigned using [Button Function], you can also perform autofocus using a control other than the shutter button.
