Silent Shooting
To use shutter speeds faster than 1/8000 s
Shutter speeds as fast as 1/32000 s are available when using the electronic shutter in Silent Shooting (, , ). In sequential shooting mode, this lets you shoot with a faster frame advance rate than when using the mechanical shutter. This is also effective in settings where the sound of the shutter would be unwelcome.
When using continuous AF[C-AF] in Silent Sequential Low () mode, the camera will focus before each shot. In Silent Sequential High () mode, the focus is locked at the value for the first shot, but the camera can take sequential photos at a faster frame advance rate compared to Sequential High. Frame advance rates of up to about 18 fps are available when Silent Sequential Low is selected, and up to about 60 fps when Silent Sequential High is selected.
Limitations apply to the flash sync speed and the frame advance rate, but flash photography is also possible. To use the flash, [Allow] must be selected for [SilentMode Setting] > [Flash Mode] in Shooting Menu 2.
