Answer :
E-M1 Mark III (1.2 or earlier version) and E-M1X (2.0 or earlier version) cannot transfer files or update a firmware via USB on a Mac with Apple M1 because the USB connection is not supported.
The USB connection on Mac with Apple M1 will be supported by the firmware update for E-M1 Mark III version 1.3 and E-M1X version 2.1 that are released on April 6, 2021.
Note :
Use a commercially available USB conversion adapter to convert the USB Type-A connector for the PC side of the bundled USB cable (CB-USB11) to USB Type C. Update the firmware of your camera via Olympus Workspace.
As for the E-M1 Mark III, you can also update the firmware using the smartphone application OI.Share.
